What is the project about?
Nature Noob Nomads was born out of my passion for nature and camping. My wife and I wanted to record our adventures around Malaysia across different camping sites.
Camping in Malaysia is a difference scene and because we are not locals, we needed a centralized location to store ideas we have gathered.
Context: We are not experienced campers, but we want to be ready to go out
Problem : A lack of understanding of the camping landscape in Malaysia and factors to consider when camping such as starting cost on gear and camping equipment, locations, where to buy them, how to navigate and ideally content creation.
Time taken to build dashboard : 2 weeks.
Researching Phase: 1 month
In my research, I explore people in the similar niche as I am. I take note of what time of content they make. Doing the research and planning in a database allows me to track what items I need to buy later.
- Involves just researching first online about popular brands, what other campers are doing, and how often they post.
What makes this project powerful is the ability to build lean and later scale.
Later stage, I decided to create a public facing page to record my journey to share with others our adventures.
What Notion allowed us to do was to organize our findings so that we can execute them better. Once we have set out the template, everything else was just doing the work and exploring more.
