Storytelling Sales Data with Canva Sheets

The question starts with why Canva?

Canva makes it easy to create digital graphics, but did you know that Canva has other powerful tools like Canva Sheets that can turn data into powerful storytelling. On top of creating beautiful social media graphics and presentations, using Canva allows you to take advantage of it’s AI Features such as Magic Formulas, Magic Charts and Magic Insights.

If you have been an avid user of similar tools Excel or Sheets to plot data for your business for example, you would already be able to implement Canva Sheets with ease but now with more prompting because efficiency = set up once and done.

In this example, I will demonstrate how easy it would be to create a simple visual storytelling to create a monthly financial report with Canva.

This is a sample of data that I get from the orders I receive from customers in the month of April. It shows their order ID, the order date, the amount and the customer’s organization code. I imported the data using a .CSV file.

Here’s what I can do after. Instead of typing formulas, I can prompt by typing “= and clicking on the Magic Formulas option. I can then prompt using natural human language and ask it to give me the total sum of orders.

It will then prompt me to accept or discard the formula written.

By selecting on Magic Charts, Canva recommends a list of recommended charts based on your cell selection.

Straight away we can see how easy we can use Canva to actually present data, but asides from the usual graphs like bar, line, area, pie and donut charts. Canva partners up with Flourish to give some other really cool data charts like

Another powerful feature of Canva is to use the Magic Insights Feature to quickly get insights.

By just clicking on Magic Insights, you can ask the AI to give you insights on your data.
In this prompt, it also provides a graph that you can copy.

All you need to do is copy the insights and tweak it to make it look presentable.

Because Canva makes it easy for you to use elements.

You can use these graphs in any Canva designs by copying and pasting into another design. It could be in a company presentation or used in any other sites

In a presentation design such as this one above, you can paste the graph and have it linked to a live data source. Any updates can be refreshed with a button.
